SAVE MONEY FOR A TRIP

It's simpler than you think!

Day 1

1. Choose a destination

Pick a place which you believe you can afford after saving for 6 months

2. Compare prices

Use multiple price comparison sites to find the best travel deals for your chosen destination. Tip! Do this every now and then during your money saving period. Jot down the prices so you get a clue on how much it fluctuates in the months till you buy your tickets. This way you’ll get an idea of what is expensive and cheap for your particular destination. This applies to both flights and accommodation.

3. Set up a travel budget.

How much do you want to spend each day on your trip?

How much cheaper / more expensive are food, drinks and transportation where you’re going?

How much can you cut back on? Are there hotel sites with good deals? Can you rent an apartment with a kitchen? AirBnB? Home swap?

4. Set up a designated travel savings account

Set a monthly automatic transfer from your checking account to a special travel savings account. If you have a connected bank application on your smartphone you can probably set up an account and the transfers inside the app.

5. Sell stuff I don't need.

Shopping is always more fun when you're away, because the things you buy become memorabilias & souvenirs even if it's just a plain black t-shirt.

So sell some stuff you don't use in order to get a little extra spending money on your trip. It's free to post ads on Facebook's Marketplace.

6. Buy the tickets!

It's been six months. Time to buy yourself some tickets!
